asis - Ultra's structural health monitoring system
Aircraft, both fixed wing and helicopters, are being operated for many more years than originally planned. Many military aircraft fleets are already over 25 years old, with these same aircraft expected to still be operating in another 40 years.
This is increasing the requirement, and cost, of monitoring and maintaining the structures within the aircraft that are subject to fatigue.
During the last five years military aircraft have been permanently grounded, solely due to concerns about the structural integrity of these aircraft.
asis, Ultra’s new structural health monitoring system, has been developed to enable the early detection of cracks within the metal structure of military aircraft. Earlier, easier detection of cracks reduces maintenance costs, increases safety and could extend the life of aircraft that might otherwise be grounded.
