When part of an aircraft moves from one position to another, such as landing gear extending and retracting or passenger doors opening and closing, the movement needs to be reliably and accurately monitored and controlled.
We are able to help aircraft manufacturers or larger system suppliers define their requirements and then to design, develop, manufacture and support position sensing and control technologies for both military and civil aircraft.
These systems monitor and communicate the position of structures and then sequence and control their movement. We supply systems that are either centralised or distributed in architecture, can generate the high integrity weight on wheels signals for the rest of the aircraft to use.
These systems typically incorporate dual-redundant hardware and software – often within a single LRU. The units incorporate extensive Built-In-Test checking and reporting on their own health and the health of the sensors they interface with.
We, often teamed with Goodrich of the US which provides high-integrity proximity sensors, have together provided complete Position Sensing and Control systems to Boeing, Airbus Military and Gulfstream.
Ultra and Goodrich can supply either the proximity sensor and interface electronics for integration within the customer’s system or the total electronic control system.
